Olympia Designs ‘Our humble start’

In early April 1992,my husband Peter and I baptized our son. It was my responsibility to look for gifts for the guests at our son’s christening. Aside from our friends and family we had invited some much esteemed people, so I wanted something artful and high quality at a reasonable price to offer them. My efforts with local shops were fruitless, therefore, I decided to handcraft special custom gifts for my guests, using the skills I learned during art lessons I had taken while at college in London, UK.

Our son’s special day was a big success. The gifts were a conversation piece and literally everyone asked where I had bought them from. My guests looked in disbelief when I told them that I had made them myself. Right away my friends and other guests began to ask me to make gifts for their own special occasions. Mouth to mouth, word got out about our quality and art at a reasonable price and local shops began to place more and more orders with me.

Our First Little Shop

Before long, my kitchen table hobby, turned into a small business and I rented my first little workshop with a tiny showroom in Archbishop Kyprianou Avenue, in the town of Larnaca Cyprus and expanded my product line using both materials found in nature during our trips and materials from the local market.

Early Success & Growth

Building our business on High Quality Fine Art at a Reasonable Price was the best decision I ever made. By 1994 business was very good so in that year I moved across the road to bigger premises and registered ‘Olympia Designs’ as my business trade name. In the same year we started, my husband Peter and I, sourcing for materials to import by attending various International Fairs. Our first imports included Christmas Trees, Christmas Ornaments, and Giftware. In the following year we added Spring and Easter Items. Our growth into a full seasonal operation that operated year-round was completed when we added Patio and Garden Furniture, and later garden accessories to our collection.

We continuously grow and enrich our collections and strive to offer the best possible service to our esteemed clients. In 1998 we moved our headquarters and showroom to our present location, a spacious high visibility building located on a very busy intersection.

Olympia Designs International

In the fields of Seasonal collections, Olympia Designs, is the pacesetter both for trend and quality in Cyprus. This high level success encouraged us to exhibit our collections abroad with the hope to find new markets and new clients with whom to grow and to help grow. We are now successfully exporting our Christmas Collections to all Continents. Our latest venue was completed successfully in January 2007 when we took part, in the Christmas World Fair in Frankfurt Germany, exhibiting our own collections of Christmas Ornaments Trees and Decorations.
